What is Spot Gold?

This morning I read about spot gold and, frankly, I had no idea what it was. Apparently it's part of a new set of commodities that are traded for their "on the spot" value. That's news to me.

In other news the dollar fell even further and lost enough value against the Yen to match its 1995 value. We also saw oil go up to $111 a barrel. Where will it stop? If I had to put a bet down I'd say about $130 but what do I know?
