Airline Death

Posted By: Dr. Frugal in Economics on 02/26/2008 at 06:33:07

I learned from a friend of mine, who is a flight attendant, that they're not allowed to let anyone die in the air. Even if someone is clearly dead and there is a doctor on board they are supposed to perform CPR on them and have the doctor pronounce them dead on the ground. Why? To help avoid stories like this one. Not surprisingly, mid-air deaths are bad for business and they're even worse when things like non-working medical devices are discovered and spread by the media. I'm not saying this practice is right but I understand. And it's one of many reasons I don't like to fly unless I absolutely have to.
