Cost of Insurance

Posted By: Dr. Frugal in Economics on 11/10/2007 at 06:31:47

Yesterday one of our student interns at work came back from a trip to the ophthalmologist. Of course he doesn't have insurance and because he's not enrolled in any classes at UIC he's not eligible for student insurance. His visit cost him about $150 but the killer were his eyedrops--another $101 plus tax. Granted, we pay our interns but not very much. Certainly not enough where a $250 hit wouldn't be felt. I don't care if it's communistic; I believe we really need universal health care here.
